I Interviewed at UIC-Metro Group late in the season and was very surprised that the program does not generate more interest. It's a hybrid program so it is considered less competetive, however, the residents all seemed very happy and they definitely operate way more than anyone at UIC.
The leadership at UIC-MGH seems to be rock solid. They have a very dynamic chair and the faculty all seem to very proud to be part of the program. It also seems that fellowship opportunities are quite strong coming out of this program (unless you want peds).
In summary, I would say that this program is probably a diamond in the rough.
