U.S. MD --> live in Australia?

Anyone done this? Might be kinda rare because people would just apply to Australian schools if they really wanted to live there.

But I live in Canada so I prefer living in the U.S. for med so that I'm close to my family for at least 4 years. I'd rather ultimately live in Australia though because it's a nice place haha :)

So yeah, is it difficult to get a residency spot in Australia if you're a U.S. MD? I guess that's sorta my main question here. I know about the difficulties of returning to Canada/U.S. if living in Australia as an international medical student, but what about the opposite?

Applying for a post graduate training spot is probably difficult.

But there are several doctors from the States that were board certified and then came over. I think that pathway would be easier. That is finishing medical school, then finishing residency obtaining board certification and applying for jobs after that.
