.The University of Pittsburgh, Division of Plastic Surgery is pleased to announce that we have established a second Reconstructive Microsurgery fellowship position at our institution. We are accepting applications immediately for this 1 year position that begins July 1, 2012..
.Our fellowship provides an in depth exposure to microsurgical techniques throughout the body, including head & neck, lower extremity, trunk, breast (including all perforator flaps), and composite tissue allotransplantation. We remain one of the few programs in the country to provide comprehensive reconstructive services to our Head and Neck Surgery colleagues. Emerging robotic-assisted microsurgical techniques round out the cutting-edge experience offered at the University of Pittsburgh. Our center performs 200 to 250 free flaps per year as we provide valuable reconstructive services to five hospitals within the city of Pittsburgh. Complex conventional reconstructive surgery is also represented in the fellowship experience. The fellows participate in heavy clinical volume, conferences, resident teaching, and research projects. Working with our seven microsurgeons, the fellows advance from the role of trainee to trainer as they develop knowledge, technical skill, and judgment throughout the year..
.Applicants should send CV, USMLE I, II and III scores and three letters of recommendation to Nina Beedle, fellowship coordinator:.
