tips for phone section of cs?

I haven't done a phone consult/examination before. Do you pretty much go over your history w/ the patient and leave out the exam? What do you say at the end?

"I'm glad u called. Please go to the local ED..."

In addition to recommendations, you should also counsel the patient's family why you made the recommendation. Be empathic and state your reasons clearly. That seemed to work for me.
