no, they aren't.
Yes they are. 99.9% of porn is made for men.

Men catcall women. Not the other way around.

Young women get leered at all day long.

Almost all serial killer rapists are men and most victims are young women.

Yes not all men are bad but enough are that if I was a woman I wouldn't take a chance.

I don't take a chance with my daughters. We don't hire male sitters or au pairs. Now that my daughters are entering adolescence they are seeing a female pediatrician.

This dr levy is a great example.

Extrapolating from one criminal predator to all men is brilliant.

Imagine a bowl of m&ms. Some of them are poison, would you want to take a handful?

However, I would believe that male physicians have a lot lower incidence of being inappropriate or violent. I think that most people with those type of tendencies would be weeded out.
Logically, I know my risk of being hurt by a male doctor is very very low. However, my logical brain doesn't exactly have control over my anxiety, therefore I only see female docs for pelvics and the like.

All you have to do is replace the words 'male' or 'men' with 'black' or 'hispanic' to see how generalizing and prejudiced your comments are.

"Yes not all blacks are bad but enough are that if I was a white I wouldn't take a chance. I don't take a chance with my daughters. We don't hire black sitters or au pairs. Now that my daughters are entering adolescence they are seeing a white pediatrician."

"Imagine a bowl of m&m's. Some of them are poison, would you want to take a handful? That's why I don't have black doctors."

Lol. Way to grossly misrepresent what I wrote

No misrepresentation, just changed gendered words. Prejudice is prejudice girls and guys, no two ways about it.

I always find it fascinating when folks from other specialties venture into the OBGYN forum to start such riveting discussions. Gross generalization is a sure way to ensure that no one will pay attention to your opinions.

That was a wasted minute I wish I could have back.

Statistically, I'm much less likely to be a victim of a crime committed by a black person than by a white person. (Because most crime occurs intraracially) the same does not apply to men vs. Women so your analogy falls flat.

Look, it seems your logical brain is turning around and agreeing with that emotional brain! :highfive:

It's the generalization that is harmful touchpause13. If you really can't understand that it's the form of what you're saying that is prejudiced, rather than the truth of the claim, then good luck to you.

My only generalization was that I don't think male doctors are predators lol.

I would agree with that and say only a minute percentage are. But you never hear about female predator physicians. And I do know that most all male docs will "check out" a "hot woman" when they see one on the street or at the beach or wherever. I think men are more conflicted with that and objectify women to a greater extent than women objectify women or objectify men. It is a potential problem in any patient physician relationship, but gyn just happens to deal nearly exclusively with the sexualized parts of female anatomy, at least on the exterior.

A medical student I went to school with said she went to a male gyn at Ohio state for her first pelvic exam when she was a late teenager in the 90s The male gyn didn't use gloves. At the time she thought nothing of it, never having had one before, but 7-8 years when she was in medical school she realized that was a real pervy act by the gyn.

Sorry folks, but closing this thread as 1) it is offering absolutely nothing of substance with respect to the goals/aims of this forum, 2) turning into marked generalization without substance. In invite you to consider sections of SDN dedicated to social discussions as we are nearing the point of slander, insult without much constructive discussion.
