For the person with the Palmetto question, I don't have a dean's letter or all my LOR's in yet, but I do have my transcript in.

You can probably figure it all out from searching the posts from years past, but as I best recall, the flood gates for interviews started coming in toward the end of September and first 15 days of October. The peak seemed to be in the early October period. I still got offers even into November but they became scant. And don't be afraid to call programs (but let them get their mad rush done first). By November, and really December, people will start cancelling and you will be able to get a spot perhaps. The main thing is be flexible and try and take an entire month just for interviewing. Enjoy your free time and meet as many of your future colleagues as you can, because this is a small world in EM and many of us know each other.
In fact, I just decided to transfer programs and by the grace of God or shear luck, one of my favorite places along the trail from 2 years ago remembered me and had held me in a very favorable rank position when I ultimately matched elsewhere. Due to family issues and my overall career goals, I called them up and asked them if they were interested in accomodating a transfer. It was not easy, but I made it work and they helped me to come aboard theiir program. I am in fact writing this during my last shift at my current program and will transfer almost seamlessly into a R2 position in the next many weeks.
So best advice....never burn any bridges and stay in touch with great people you meet along the way.

I know there was a question about this earlier, so-- for BIDHAEMR, my transcript was just posted on Fri, and I have 2 of my 4 letters in.

I am impatient! What are alllllllllllll the other programs up to??
I am impatient! What are alllllllllllll the other programs up to??
ACEP is next week. After that, programs will start offering spots (the ones that haven't already).
Yep about 2/3 of the places dont offer interviews until after the deans letter that 1st week after that comes out is insane.. tons of offers one after another.Be prepared to not hear anything during ACEP. All of you relax...it's still early.
I'm just worried bc I put myself in a bad position. I signed up for that Big Sky Clinic rotation in Montana for January '08 -- the deadline for that application was first semester of third year. Back then I was thinking, woohoo! Ski season in Montana! and not, woa- smack dab in the middle of interview season!
My career advisor was like, you should be fine, just get everything out EARLY. So I submitted Sept 1... but each day it gets a little later and I worry that if I get interviews, they're inevitably going to trickle into January... and I'll be trying to get in and out of Big Sky, Montana for them!
Anyone been in a similar situation? Or am I the only fool that screwed myself over?
