Nitrogen attached to 3 alkyl groups and nitrogen carries a positive change ( since there is one double bond).

is it a tertiary or quaternay amine?

its quartenery - a double bond with a R group means 2 R groups...
besides... it has a + charge so..

It's not an amine.

you described an iminium ion. it's not an amine, it's an imine. It's not usually given names like secondary and tertiary. Normally, an imine is RN=CR2. If you put two R groups on the nitrogen, you have an iminium ion. Usually, if there are alpha protons, you will get tautomerization to the corresponding enamine (an enamine is like an enol, except with a nitrogen instead of an oxygen).

werd. i agree. the more exotic nitrogen groups are very common in biochem/metabolism, but rather uncommon on the mcat as i recall.
