Teaching Career for a FTD

Would anyone throw some light on the teaching career for a FTD without a DDS.I understand one can do residency in Oral path/Med .What are the other dental specialties that one can get trained for to pursue teaching career.
Also Would some one name some institutes for oral path/med residencies.?
Any effort to address this topic will be highly appreciated.
