How did this situation involve your grit and coping skills?
Talking to someone helped me change the way I looked at life, accept my family member’s death, and overall be more positive. I also started to care about my hobbies and school again, which was difficult to do. Another family member passed away a few months ago and I was able to mourn and celebrate their life rather than go down a rabbit hole like I did freshman year by using the coping strategies my counselor taught me.
Thank you both for your responses and help:)

On the contrary, talking about something important to you and how you overcame a struggle is a very good essay. Talk about what it means to you, your family, and how it makes you feel. If done correctly, it comes off as very authentic and introspective.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your close family member.
