Surgical trip for 11 days, will it help my application?

I'd love to go just for the experience, but I'd like to know if it would, in any way, provide a unique aspect to my application. It is a $2000 expense that I'd pay for out of my own pocket.

This is a description of the program from one of the coordinators:

"In addition to getting some surgical time you would also work in the general
medical clinic, both in the hospital and out in the clinic. The clinic is "true" medicine
we take a group of people and drive to remote location, work out in the open
and provide medical and dental care."

You alluded to the point I'll make in your first few words. The experience itself will likely be the benefit. It certainly won't hurt your application.
