Are there any surgical specialities that have good hours... 55 or less hrs a week? Are there any where you can pick how much you work?

Try Optho, maybe ENT.

Agree on Optho. ENT can be pretty quiet, but it depends on where you are and what kind of ER/inpatient coverage you get stuck with.
