26 year old CA resident, female, 1st time applicant
I've been a long time lurker and I can't believe I get to post here this year! I almost didn't apply this cycle because I thought my application still needed some work esp with my low GRE scores. I also didn't have crazy diverse veterinary experience or a large amount of animal experience compared to others. I'm really glad I took a shot because not only did I get into vet school my first try, but I got into my first choice and DREAM school! So to those that are scrolling through this thread in hopes of applying next year, don't be discouraged if it seems like your stats are not as competitive as others. You really never know how things will turn out and as long as you meet all the requirements, always give it your best shot So excited for this upcoming year ^__^
Applied: Midwestern, SGU, Ohio State, Michigan State, Mizzou, Virginia-Maryland, Iowa State, Purdue
Interview invites: Midwestern, SGU, Ohio State, Michigan State
Rejected: Virginia-Maryland, Mizzou, and Purdue
Waitlisted: Iowa State
Accepted: Ohio State, Michigan State, Midwestern, and SGU
Attending: Ohio State
Degree: B.A. in Psychology
Took ALL my science pre-reqs at a community college post-bacc (proof that it doesn't matter where your pre-reqs come from)
Overall GPA: 3.49
Undergrad GPA: 2.98 lol
Science GPA: 3.72
Last 45 GPA: 3.86
GRE: 144V/154Q/4.0AW
(also proof that GREs aren't everything )
Vet Experience:
Talked about my desire to work with pets of the homeless population and how I hope one day to open a low cost clinic that they feel welcome to seek care for their furry family members.
