Studying During Ortho Residency

Can any residents talk about what studying during ortho residency is like? Is it a couple of hours a day? Or just a few on the weekend?

To be good at what you do, it’s every chance you get. You need to eat, sleep, and breathe orthopedics for those five years because that is your only chance to be able to see those patients without any ultimate responsibility for them. It’s not a “number of hours” thing.

Different for every program. Some residents aren’t as busy and do a lot of studying per week. Others study when they find time. We often do things like case/topic presentations so we have to study to prepare for those anyway.
