I am a 2nd yr FM resident planning to use my electives in a sleep rotation. Since I will still be on call & having 4 family medicine clinics a week, my time with this elective will be a bit limited.
What should I stress on & what should I ignore?
Please let me know what your experiences were- what you wish you had done more.

If you are doing it to learn how to eval and refer, OSA is pretty easy. The narcolepsy, insomnia, RLS and parasomnias are a little more complicated, especially the testing. Complex sleep apnea, obesity hypoventilation, centrals as well as how the sensors work and getting a solid intro to the PSG is also a good place to start.
