Hey all,

I am currently finishing up my MA in Counseling. I would like to teach psychology at a University one day and understand that I pretty much need a PhD to do so. Most of my professors in my current program hold their PhD in CE, and have advised me to do the same. I have a few issues/questions though and was hoping that you all would not mind helping out:

1) I would most likely have to pursue an online program due to moving and not having a university anywhere near me. By doing so, would it still be as reputable as an gaining the degree in person?

2) Are there any universities that you all recommend?

3) Are there any programs that I could attend that I would not have to take out more student loans for?

Thank you all!

I would ask first why you can't teach with just a master's degree. You also don't really learn how to teach with a doctorate.

Tenure track positions are very rare and challenging without a solid mentoring plan and networking. There are many adjunct or clinical non-tenure track teaching positions that may better suit you.
