Dental Should I include business I started in Pre-Dental Work Experience

Hey! I am a pre-dental student and started my own business in June of 2020. I put in a large number of hours weekly running my business. Would this look good on my application?

I think it would look good and show that you a driven person, however, you need to make it clear to them that this will not get in the way of your dental education. Are you planning on continuing to run this business during dental school?

I plan on taking a break during dental school so I can focus on my studies.

Okay, just make sure they know it’s not going to get in the way basically. I would definitely bring it up though.

Yeah that's fine but make sure you do have a good number of hours shadowing/volunteering/gaining dental experience too. This shouldn't be the only thing on your app

I have 100 dental shadowing hours right now and around 40 community service hours. I plan on getting more of each! I apply in June.

Make sure to get more volunteer hours for sure!

What type of business? How important is it to you? You won't be able to run it while in dental school if you expect to do well.

Yes! the soft plastics start as a liquid and i create them into the soft plastic baits using aluminum molds, heat, dye and glitter! It has really helped my manual dexterity skills.
