Should aspiring doctors be held to the Kavanaugh Standard?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
  1. Well when you have a president elect who sets that precedent at his campaign rallies, the sort of atmosphere becomes more commonplace.
Yes i agree the professor is a nut.
And I have always been for charging the speaker if they issue an order like that as a threat, and charge them as an accomplice if someone follows through

That mess didn’t help kavenaugh nor would anyone who wanted him confirmed have asked for it. They were pushed into that with accusations that had no evidence by democrats doing anything they could to stop a republican nominee

Congress never should have gotten involved
If course the mess helped kavanaugh.

He got voted in, didn’t he? That would not have happened without the hearing.

And yes Steve, I’ll take this Binky tyvm:

And did you click on the link right after, the one which reported that the clip - ostensibly about Trump and Russua - had nothing to do with that situation?

In case you didn’t realize, the clip was from June 2017.

Way to go SDN. One page on a decent hypothetical, and then the usual tripe. There's a 79+ page thread on exactly what the last three pages have been in the SPF!

To, trying (probably in vain) to reorient back to the OP, let's posit that you receive some info from an outside source about the behavior of a candidate to your med school/residency program. It could be that the Admissions Dean or the PD gets a phone call.

In what situation, if any, would you take this seriously???? OR, what kind of info would have you take this serious?

@sb247 , let's start with you.

@PlutoBoy, I'm counting on you to keep things not too serious. And how's the little one?

Kavanaugh Standard, n.: A euphemism for a standard that is disproportionate or impossibly high to meet and used as a pretext to reject an aspirational candidate for unrelated reasons.

Criminal accusation?

“That sounds serious, you should report that to the police so it can be investigated fully, we will be very interested in the results “

I have to admit Kavanaugh says some weird stuff. Today he said, while on the SC, he'll be a "team player". What does that mean?
He was referring to beer pong match he was having later against Ginsburg

Answer the question without hijacking. The confirmation process is over. History. SPF s that way -> if you still wish to boil over. Let's stick to the OP.

Info would have to be pertinent and recent.

If someone is a CURRENT threat to the workplace, I thought they would violate or harass pt, etc, I would take action.

I thought that residencies are in the position of deciding which doctors are appropriate candidates for becoming specialists in the given field. and yes, medical schools and residencies should be in the business of determining who becomes one of their colleagues

imo, there is no validity to saying "well, he did this heinous action 9 years ago instead of 7, so that makes it okay". then one gets in the semantics of deciding how long ago is considered recent. and then one has to decide which allegations should be evaluated and which should not.

to make it simple and fair, all allegations should be investigated and a decision made based on facts. again, that's my opinion.
