Ok moderator, not trying to start trouble. Just trying to get a feel.

Just wondering if any of you have partaken in a little freak nasty in the call rooms or knew anyone that did.

If so, do you guys think this is acceptable behavior in the work place?

Just wondering and bringing this over from a previous discussion on the general residency forum.

I for one only thought that this stuff only happened on TV but apparently it happens not infrequently in the real world.

Anyone?

Haha you're cool, relax, we won't rat you out.

I have not, but do know real people that have been involved in said extracurricular activities. Don't know if I'd call it acceptable workplace behavior per se, but it happens. I would say that there are times when it is definitely UNacceptable, such as attending-on-resident/med student action.

Had a buddy from med school (credible and not the type to talk smack) who apparently came pretty close.......hahaha

It was with another med student, who was this really "shy" girl....

Yes this has happened repeatably during my residency years. Two of my residency classmates were quite the players.

OB and Anesthesia call rooms were right next to each other (like Jack/Jill rooms) with shared bathrooms.

If I were taking call right after one of my buddies, and the sheets didn't look clean, I would always call housekeeping to change the sheets.

We also got in trouble cause our female anesthesia residents did not take kindly to us downloading porn on torrents and leaving them on the computer. My idiots friends left them right on the desktop of the computer to be seen and I showed them how to hide folders.

Single, smokin, and a cool chick.... very acceptable.

Married, psychotic, or causes you to ignore emergency airway and code pages.... totally unacceptable.

As a third year student the coordinator for my OB rotation made everyone in our group reveal any romantic relationships that anyone had with anyone else during our introductory lecture/meeting. That was confusing for us since it had not been asked in any of our previous rotations.

There was one couple in the grouop so they raised their hands. The coordinator said that they weren't allowed to be on call together. For good reason they were upset because who wants to have a call schedule that's off from your bf/gf especially if you live together as these two did.
She replied that she was sorry but this policy was put into place in order to minimize the chance of any "hanky-panky" and that the environment just seemed to perpetuate this type of behavior.

We all burst out laughing and asked if this was some sort of a joke and just kept going on and on about how stupid this (she) was. She got so red in the face, insisted that "premarital sex is no joke" and stormed off. This made it even funnier because she seemed to have forgotten that the real reason that couples maybe shouldn't be on call together isn't because they're not married, but because it's not entirely professional to have sex in a call room (that didn't even have a working lock by the way) while at work.

But the comment that was funniest to me was that she thought the environment was more conducive to couples getting it on. Delivering a baby and then a placenta never made it to the top of my turn ons list but I guess that's just me.

I used to change the sheets regularly while on call.

I make it practice to change the sheets when on call even if it looks like housekeeping came through. They may have just remade the bed with whatever sheets were on it. No thanks.

Edit: this is why- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6uQC9MM5cQ No, sheets aren't the same as a glass, but you get the point.

I can see it now, where a resident tries to explain himself/herself to an eye-rolling significant other/primary care doc: "I don't know where I got the gonorrhea from, it must have been the call room sheets!"

My ex-wife admitted of having sex with her married colleague multiple times in the call room even though there are cameras everywhere in the hospital . Talk about being screwed up !

Yeah but what if it was someone hot drinking from that glass before

maybe it's just me but I feel like SDN has become a cesspool of weirdly, cringeworthy sex-related threads in the past week or so.

You created an account and necrobumped an 7 year old, creepy as hell thread for THIS? Cool, man.

Holy crap. I started this thread as a resident. And I am trying to remember why I slept in a sleeping bag, but probably cuz I used to be bonnier than I am now and the beds were hard as a rock. This is going down memory lane for sure. For the record, I never had sex on call. I was mostly celibate in residency actually. Thank God that's over.
And it's been some eons since I slept in a call room too.

Ashamed to admit it. But I have partaken with a long term gf. Bucket list thing to do. Probably wont ever do it again. Unless she asks me :)

Supply room, with cleaning staff....
Not me... a CT surgeon.
Busted mid act!

Interesting. I’ve never seen a remotely attractive member of the cleaning staff in any hospital ever.

Not sure of the exact point of climax when they were caught... Consuela did end up marrying the CT surgeon. :)

Good story from a neighboring hospital a number of years back. Guy on OB call feeling a little lonely. Decides to make a call and order up some fee for service company. Apparently shoulda checked her credentials a bit more thoroughly ‘cuz it ended up being an under cover cop. Nothing more embarrassing than gettin’ lead outta the hospital in cuffs for soliciting.
