School specific questions format and GRE score q's

For school specific questions on PTCAS, most have a max character limit of 4500, which is equivalent of the personal statement of PTCAS. Do we have to make it an essay format like personal statements, or can we write it in more free response, short answer format and be fine?

Also I never got any info regarding what is an above average GRE score. I received a 161Q 161A, and was wondering if this can be considered reasonably above average?
