I have nothing better to do than make more work for the preop clinic and wanted to make some more work for them. I use a calculator for very sick patients to guide decision making but more importantly to make it less abstract for the patient. So I was wondering which one would be best for every patient that comes to our preop clinic. NSQIP is good and almost information overload. RCRI seems dated. Gupta is quick and easy and probably just as good as others. Who uses these for every patient that warrants a preop visit? Which do you use?
I am leaning towards Gupta because it is quick and concise. I like NSQIP as well, but seems like too much information that isn't truly helpful (that I have seen in the literature). Almost seems a bit too OCD/Autism spectrum.
