Retina Fellowship 2009- applicants

We can start a thread with questions/discussion/Interviews for the 2009 retina match. This appears to have worked well in prior years.

Lets start with posting interview invitations (including mode, i.e. email,phone, snail mail) for retina fellowship . Pls feel free to post if you hear about interviews from any programs.

This will also allow us to probably share accomodation etc during interviews, or facillitate switching conflicting interviews.

We are all going to be future collegues and friends so let us start now

Is UBC Vancouver open to US applicants? Is it a good program? Do they even give you a salary as a fellow if you're from the US?

Vancouver's program (Bill Ross's program) is open to US applicants and is good from what I have heard. You do a ton of surgery. I don't know about salary.

I'm starting my ophtho residency in July, doing intern year now. I was wondering- what do I need to be doing during my residency to become a good candidate for retina fellowship? I know its really competitive. I'm sure research is one of the criteria. What else?
