Applied broadly last cycle to ~40 MD schools
NJ F ORM
cgpa: 3.6, sgpa: 3.5 (strong upward trend but 3 C's and 1 W in the first 2 years)
mcat: 510

Received 5 II -> 1 R, 4 W (still waiting but hope is dwindling)

Activities:
2200 hrs Research (published as a contributor)
3000+ hrs Scribe
1500+ hrs Medical Assistant
900 hrs Resident Assistant
750 hrs Leadership in wellness org
700 hrs Leadership in ski team
150 hrs Community service
450 hrs Hospital volunteer
680 hrs Volunteer tutor
195 hrs Shadowing

Already submitted secondaries to 10 schools for this cycle. Can't decide if it's worth 50k for RFU BMS but the strong linkage is compelling. Will probably apply to a few DO this time. Would appreciate any thoughts!

I can’t comment on RFU BMS, however, I think you should apply to DO schools this cycle. Also, since you had 5 II it’s not you app that’s holding you back but your interview skills, if you work to build those up, and interview again, you should get accepted.

Thanks for the advice! I just needed validation that it's not my app so I will definitely focus on interview prep.

All low-tier east coast. Surprisingly, none were state schools.
I suggest including all these schools in your reapplication:
The 5 schools where you interviewed
Your 3 NJ state public schools
Seton Hall
Tufts
Vermont
Quinnipiac
New York Medical College
Albany
Geisinger
Penn State
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
George Washington
Georgetown
Virginia Commonwealth
Eastern Virginia
Wake Forest
NOVA MD
Wayne State
Oakland Beaumont
Medical College Wisconsin
Loyola
Rosalind Franklin
Rush
St. Louis
Creighton
TCU-UNT
Loma Linda
Also apply broadly to DO schools and I suggest these:
NYIT
PCOM
MU-COM
CUSOM
VCOM (all 3 schools)
LECOM (all schools)
CCOM
DMU-COM
KCU-COM
ATSU-KCOM
AZCOM

Actually applied to all those MD schools last year except for the last 4. Will add those. Thank you!

Whatever the reason was for your unsuccessful cycle last time around, it wasn't due to your grades. You don't need an SMP. Work on interview skills

Rewrite all essays and have multiple eyeballs vet them

Thank you for the advice! Definitely a tough pill to swallow if it's my interviewing skills because that's actually where I felt the most confident. Would you recommend paying for a mock interview service or just practice with friends/colleagues?

Don't practice with friends. Practice with acquaintances, or even better, your school's career counseling services. IF you know anyone who works in an HR setting, they can be of help as well.

Just direct them to the SDN Interview feedback section for what they should be asking you.
