Now that I've been doing the residency thing for awhile, here are a few questions I wished I nailed down from the residents when I interviewed.
1) How is the ER? Do you get abused with consults or can the ED doctors figure out how to manage a non obstructing stone with no pyuria? It's really painful when the ED docs decide to just pawn everything off on the residents.
2) How is the call schedule? Now I think I always asked this question, but really nail them down. How many residents are at the various hospitals? Do you have to take call for hospitals across town? Etc.
Frankly, I'm kind of glad that residency is only 5 years. Sorry for those who are in 6 year programs....
