In the PbS compound, sulfur will have an oxidation state of 2- while lead will have one of 2+. If sulfurs oxidation state were to go from 2- to 4+ in a reaction, does this mean sulfur loses 6 electrons in the process?
The equation goes:
2PbS+3O2 -> 2PbO+2SO2
The equation goes:
2PbS+3O2 -> 2PbO+2SO2
