Question on Publishing Research Papers

How would I go about publishing scientific research papers that I have written?
I want to submit them to scientific journals.
I recently emailed a few of my college professors and tried looking it up online but I have yet to find any information, only that is a long and difficult process but it would be worth it to me...even if I have to work on my papers during the summer.
Can anyone help me with this?

Well it will probably be a review article. However, I'm going to be emailing a professor at my college and asking about some research I can do by creating transgenic plants to go with my paper on genetic engineering.
Ive been doing some reading on genetically modifying organisms and it seems plants would be the best thing to start out on...well the simplest.

But I will also look on the FAQ too, thanks a lot!
