well, there is a lot of talk about lifestyle in derm, but is the pay good when only working 3-4 days a week? (low six-figures?) And how many hours does a normal dermatologist really work?

Residency is ~ 40 hours.

The pay is fairly average when compared to other fields (surgical fields for instance)

But the benefit of derm is a good lifestyle and not rampant money (I actually don't think you'll find the latter in any field of medicine)

That being said, if you choose to work more, you can make more money that way!

40 hours!? Now I know why people want to match into this field. Thanks.

Yup...if you are just starting med school and you are intested in derm, I would recommend shadowing a dermatologist.

Being paid well and only working 40 hours a week are really great perks. But if you don't like what you are doing, then it can still be rough work. (Many have said that derm bores them to tears! Always good to make sure it doesn't do that for you!)
