Hey everyone,

Im in a geriatrics internship this summer and am trying to develop a program that will improve the quality of life for the residents of an in-patient home. Last semester, we came up with the idea of having a "resident of the week" in which one individual was interviewed each week, photographed and their info displayed for the rest of the community to see. That went really well but hope to top it. Anything that would improve their mental and physical bodies. Any suggestions?? The only thing my group could come up was to involve them all in song and/or dance.

Input is much appreciated

Seems like majority of the late part of life is trying to wrap things up. Elderly are solidifying their values, putting together their last meaningful view on life, and defining who they are. At least, the non-demented ones. A heavy part of this involves their family, another part of this is mentorship or the old lion wishing to roar once more. Have you tried anything involving families or inviting young folks over to sit and talk?
