Does anyone know whether or not a surgical prelim year (such as OB or surgery) would count as an internship year for radiation oncology?

Has anyone heard of anyone being successful in switching into radiation oncology? Not sure how to approach this uphill battle.

one of our residents that just graduated last year switched into rad onc from psych, so it does happen. in general, i think the biggest concern is convincing people that you know what rad onc is about, you will actually enjoy doing it as a career, and it is not just a lifestyle thing. there is nothing wrong with a good lifestyle, but that cannot be the only reason to go into rad onc.
