Problems with BCSC CD-ROM

Help! I want to "pack" the notes I have made from the CD to a Word Document. I clicked the briefcase icon and saved the notes to "my documents" but when I go to "my documents" I cannot open the file because the computer doesn't recognize it. Any help for this technology-challenged resident?
