Lately, I've been aspirating, irrigating, and injecting phenyl in a lot of priapisms. I've done about 4 or 5 in the last month. It's kind of irritating to get these guys in all the time.

Is there anything in the literature about non-ER methods of treating priapism? I'm really getting sick of injecting people while on call. What can I do to help these guys stay down?

if they don't have cardiac problems... they need a sudafed bottle and take two tabs after they are done with sex... that will keep some out... many priapisms are the result of too big of a dose of pge injections....

Yeah, the guy already tried that. No help.

We started one person on tadalafil 5mg 3x/week. There were some case reports of it working in the gold journal. I'm not sure when he's set to come to clinic, but we'll see how it goes.

patients with severe, recurrent priapism have been tried on ketoconazole on lupron injection... stuttering priapism is the term...

lupron is what I've heard.. also could consider Winter Shunt
