I have had a few rotations so far where precepting is involved - I see the patients and have to precept to a fellow and attending.

I have come to LOATHE this. I know it's required, and since I too am an intern I know it's for the best welfare of the patients. But these preceptors, even when they see that you are waiting to precept patients and keep things moving, they are sitting there gabbing to each other about their kids/vacations/neighbors/pets/cars/everything. I'm just standing there like, "I know you see me standing here. I know you see that I am waiting to tell you about this patient since they have been waiting for over an hour and I'd like to get them out the door." They just act like it's not important that the patients get seen and discharged promptly, like their inane conversations are more important than the hospital/clinic running smoothly.

Waiting sucks. People think it's your fault.
