GLENDALE, Arizona (February 4, 2014) – Midwestern University and A.T. Still University will host a pre-medical school conference in Glendale and Mesa to inform pre-medical high school and college students about opportunities in osteopathic medicine.
The Pre-SOMA Medical Conference, presented by the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA), will be held on Friday, March 7 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) in Mesa and on Saturday, March 8 from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM at Midwestern University’s Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine (AZCOM) in Glendale.
The keynote speaker on Saturday will be Adrienne White-Faines, M.P.A., Executive Director and CEO of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), which is the accrediting agency for all osteopathic medical schools, hospitals, and healthcare facilities.
Medical school deans from both Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as faculty from the basic sciences, clinical faculty, and admissions officers from across the nation, will join current osteopathic medical students to provide aspiring pre-medical students with opportunities to learn about careers as Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) and best practices for applications and pre-graduate coursework. Guided campus tours will also be available, along with a light breakfast and lunch during the MWU event.
