How many of you residents out there picked PM&R over Ortho? I'm very interested in both fields and have a lot of experience with both (previous work experience, tons of observation time in both, and treating patients for both services) but still am not sure which is the right one for me.

I'm still a first year so I have time but I'm interested to hear what compelled any of you who truly considered Ortho to go for PM&R instead.

Thanks in advance,

-J

Practically and philosophically ortho and PM&R are about as far apart as possible except for some overlap in musculoskeletal medicine. I liked ortho a lot, but did not want to be straddled with a surgical lifestyle. I think many others also feel this way.
