Dear Studentdoctor peers,

I am a longtime lurker, but an inactive participant.

I have searched other threads, but wasn't able to find an answer specific to my interests.

Here are my stats
MCAT retake: 504
GPA: 3.7

NY resident

A lot of awesom ECs and one publication. I can list a few if it's important.

I have already submitted my primary two weeks ago (verified in a week) , and currently filling out secondaries for the following schools:

Albany Medical College
Albert Einstein College of Medicine
Drexel University College of Medicine
Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the
University at Buffalo
Medical College of Wisconsin
New York Medical College
Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine
Quinnipiac University SOM
Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Scien
Rutgers New Jersey Medical School
Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School
SUNY Upstate Medical University
State University of New York Downstate Medical Cen
Stony Brook University School of Medicine
Temple University School of Medicine
The Commonwealth Medical College
University of Rochester School of Medicine and Den

I understand that I am later in the cycle than most applicants, but where else can I be a good fit? I'd like to add the schools to the list ASAP and would greatly appreciate your kind suggestions.

Also, I'd also like to know if I have a decent chance of getting in somewhere this year?

As a side note, I am also applying DO,
PCOM
LECOM
ROWAN
NYCOM

Now, you have the full picture. Looking forward to your replies.

Thank you!

Maybe consider putting Rush Medical College on there as well? It's in the same area as Rosalind Franklin if I'm not mistaken.

Thank you yaka, you are quick! I will do that now.

If your EC's are actually awesome, you have a shot at MD. Definitely look good for DO. Try Loma Linda if you are religious? Another school in your number range that is mildly favorable to OOS is OUWBSOM.

Thank you Hospitalized (hopefully not for long). I will look into these two schools now.

You're pretty much circling the drain for MD schools. If you're a NYer, your chances will be best at the below. If you're from NJ, delete the SUNYs, and add the three NJ MD schools (and of course, Rowan).

Albany Medical College
Drexel University College of Medicine
Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the
University at Buffalo
Medical College of Wisconsin
New York Medical College
Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine
Quinnipiac University SOM
Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Scien
SUNY Upstate Medical University
State University of New York Downstate Medical Cen
Temple University School of Medicine
ANY DO school.

Circling the drain=low chances of survival this cycle? Am I that late?

I am a NY resident and only taking my chances at Rowan as OOS.
I will also delete Rutgers off my list. No chance there for out OOS.

Thank you, Goro!

Your biggest problem is your MCAT, which is just compounded by the fact that you're late.

Waaaaayyyyyy too late to be applying to MD programs for this cycle with those stats. Fine for DO's though.

Thank you GrapesofRath and Cotterpin, very blunt and much needed wake up call.

Which other schools can I add where my stats are fitting as a NY resident?

I understand I am late, but have there been cases where people apply and get in this period? Once again, my primary app has been verified already and I am submitting secondaries for the schools above this week and as they come in.

Your chances of getting in this late are really, really hampered by your stats. If you're already submitting your secondaries, then you're already submitting your secondaries. So... wait and see, I guess. But the smart move would be to start focusing on applying to a bunch of DO schools because that's where you have a realistic shot.

Do you at least have the fee waiver so you're not just sinking thousands of dollars into your secondaries?

I was denied the free waiver for both schools. I am working part time to pay for this cycle.

As I said in the previous post, I a applying to the following DO schools:
PECOM
LECOm
NYCOM
Rowan

Any others to consider? Is touro a good do school. I remain skeptical of their name. (Beggars may not be choosers)

Dear SDN enthusiasts,

I started this thread before and come back for the same question.

Can someone please advise which DO school are more favorable to NY residents?

I've applied only to
PCOM
LECOM (eerie campus)
NYCOM
ROWAN

Basically, I am asking which other DO school to apply to considering there is still time in the cycle.

@Goro, I'd like to hear your response. A friend told me you are a God among D.O. subscribers.

I don't think any of them have an IS bias.

@Goro, If at this moment, finances are an issue (after also applying MD), which schools would you recommend applying to in addition to the ones listed? I'd greatly appreciate your guidance.

I recently added Lecom Bradenton and Touro NY to the list.
Thank you!
