Job Summary
  • Under direct or close supervision, provides technical and research assistance to research staff to facilitate a variety of research activities including study development, literature review, proposal preparation, participant recruitment, quantitative and qualitative data collection, database management, data analysis, and dissemination. Background in animal surgery/care or surgical skills a plus.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education/Training
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a health, science, or other related field preferred or Associate’s Degree in a health or science related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience
    • Undergraduate and/or work experiences that demonstrate aptitude for research facilitation. Previous work in a research setting preferred.
  • License/Certification/Registration
    • No special certification, registration or license required.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills including use of Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to meet strict deadlines. Must be flexible, highly motivated, dedicated and is capable of working both independently and on various team projects in a diverse setting.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs qualitative and/or quantitative research data collection, as requested.
  • Obtains research related information as needed from various sources.
  • Assists with data management and analysis as needed.
  • Communicates effectively with research investigators, staff and collaborators.
  • Assists with the organization and maintenance of research records as needed.
  • Assists with the recruitment, selection, scheduling, and consenting of research participants as required.
  • Prepares timely reports as required.
  • Assists with the preparation and submission of research protocols for regulatory approval as needed.
  • Consistently demonstrates support for compliance in the performance of job duties and responsibilities by a) developing and maintaining knowledge of, and performing job functions in compliance with, rules, regulations, policies, and statutes that affect his/her job; b) maintaining knowledge of and performing job functions in compliance with MedStar Health and MedStar Health Research Institute policies and procedures; and c) reporting compliance concerns in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
