some guy was applying to med school and his friend was asking him about it. they seemed like frat brothers. i wanted to share this story.

- what did you get on the mcat?
- 29
- is that good?
- yeah the average is like 23
- whats the highest?
- a 45, but the top score in the country last year was like a 41.
anything from a 30 to a 40 and they like freak out
- good job, man

so... all of it pretty normal.

note, they may be talkign about average test takers, not average accepted.

waaaaayyy to many people propegate the false opinion over 30 is excellent. over 30 is good enough. over 34 is excellent.

Over thirty was excellent for ME....maybe not every school I'm applying to, but definately made me smile!:D

Think about it. Hopkins has an average of 33. We all know people there with 37 or higher (see mdapplicants.com, for example). For each one of those, there has to be someone with 29 or lower. And maybe he doesn't want to go to Hopkins...
