And after all the wonderful commentary on NRH...

Wow... I am REALLY surprised that University of Michigan did not fill. What do those numbers mean? 6 and 5? 5 out of 6 spots unfilled? I was very impressed with Michigan when I went out there to interview. The residents and faculty were awesome. The facilities were great too. I ended up ranking them very high on my list. Geez......

That makes more sense. U of Michigan was awesome. I was a little disappointed that I never got a chance to check out Blimpy Burger while I was in Ann Arbor...... the residents kept me well fed and entertained the entire time that I was in town

i'm really suprised as well! does this mean that people didn't rank them highly, or that the program itself did not rank that many canididates? i guess location plays a bigger factor to candidates than i thought b/c both mayo and umich have very appealing programs.

regarding jefferson, i wonder if it was b/c they have been very late in contacting candidates regarding interviews. this has been the case for the past two years. i only heard good things about this program. they are very well rounded.

I talked to my PD today after the list was posted. It was his feeling that at at least SOME programs, this is a way to fill spots with candidates they want to take OUTSIDE of the match.

Not filling is not always a sign of a program not being desireable - it can also reflect the arrogance of the selection committee if they chose to rank an insufficient number of candidates.

That being said, congrats to all who did match, and good luck to those in the midst of the scramble.

And to anyone at a program going through the scramble at the moment, remind your PD or chairman that the chaos that went on today is precisely why there is interest in establishing a second match, rather than the arbitrary nature of whose phone call gets through first, or the inherent unfairness of the old boy network.

Mmm. You should try a Triple with a fried egg on top. Happiness in a burger is when the bun falls apart from the grease!

Not for the faint of heart....but you have Carl's Jr. out in Cali, don't you? I hear those Double Thickburger monstrosities are a sight to behold.

I'm in total agreement with you there.

The Carls Jr. six-dollar burger is excellent. Out here in So Cal, we're all about In N Out though :)

I ranked Michigan first so if they did not fill, that means I'm going to Michigan! Awesome! Unless they didnt put me on their rank list at all...

now i just gotta find out about transitional years (St. Jo's in Ann Arbor is first choice), and i can finally get on with my life (buying a house and stuff)

Good Luck to everyone tomorrow, heres hoping you get your first choice!

See all you michigan folks in umm 2006!
