Moi, hi, my name is failure.

I do appreciate Hopkins rejecting me 3 times though in a span of a week.

It's more than a "not interested."

It's an emphatic "get out and stay out!"

I have only been rejected so far, thus I have not received any interviews. I am just holding out on the fact that people in the past say alot of interviews still roll in later. But the constant rejections or lack of hearing from programs is getting a little flustering, but I guess its the name of the game.
 
I am very fortunate to have 1 interview at this point, but I hear ya Txderm...it is very frustrating to hear rejection or NOTHING all day long! I think I check my email 4-5x a day! Just remember, only 18/107ish programs (that we know of) have sent invites.

Keep your head up! We can all do it!

I, too, got a double no from Hopkins. The second one wasn't even labelled with the name of their institution, I just noticed it was from the same person!

I am with you txderm. I got one from a program I was most interested in. The last did not hurt because I applied two weeks after their deadline!
But I know there is good news for you. I hear that some texas institutions are holding special interview date just for their students and fellows. I hope you hear from them soon.
 
three rejections back to back today.

I'm getting depressed. I know rejections will come but its still disheartening.
 
yeah, even though inevitable, it is definitely disheartening. did anyone add the UC Irvine rejection on the board yet? 11-10 (email). i hear you on the multiple hopkins emails..i think they really wanted to drill it in.
 
do you think it's neurotic to check email more than 50x a day? i'm such a freak, no wonder i'm not getting interviews.
 
do programs all send out rejection emails or is no news = rejection?

Wow, I check mine about 3 times/day.

And I too got the wonderful triple rejection from Hopkins because they apparently don't know how to keep track of who they rejected.

I have noticed some people got acceptances and rejections. I applied to some of the programs and have yet to get anything via email...acceptance or rejections....does anyone know why???

Your application is probably still being reviewed. Many of us are in the same boat at certain programs/all programs. Part of the whole waiting game.

I second this. I talked to a program director while on an away rotation, and he said basically there are "three piles" of applicants in terms of interviews; (1) Immediate YES, (2) Immediate NO, and (3) MAYBE. Having heard nothing probably means you are in the MAYBE pile, and must continue to play the waiting game. How one moves from the MAYBE pile into the YES pile I could not tell you.

On another note, after talking with most of the residents at the program where I did an away, they all said they got most of their interview invites over thanksgiving week (and also quite a few rejections too :(), so to second what most of you already know, it is still very early on in the application season for us (which seems incredibly weird as most of your friends are turning down interviews at this point, I know mine are, and continue to remind me of this!!!)

Yeap had a ton of rejections they all eventually let me know, and yeap it was very derpressing.

On interviews some guy was braging about how many interviews he got. I bet him I could out do him with how many rejections I got.
 
Did anyone else receive the Harvard email that our application was complete? It seems late to receive that kind of email and I kept waiting for it to say that I wasn't getting an interview. Just checking.
 
I got the Harvard email twice today. (identical messages, just confirming application is complete)
It states that they will meet in early Dec to select students for interviews in January.

so I am assuming that if you dont get one of the rejection letters you are in the maybe pile? Does anyone know how you get from the maybe pile to the yes pile....probably all the yes's cant go to all of the interviews they get so they start declining and the maybes get asked? This waiting game is not too much fun

Nope, I've never been to Texas, but it sounds like a cool place. This was just one of those random interviews I guess. I'm looking forward to it. Good luck.
 
The waiting game sux - especially compared to everyone else who already had their interviews set up 1-2 months ago. I always hear that most interviews come in mid-November. From people I've talked to, they even get some until mid December.
Also, I know there are a couple of people getting interviews here and there, but how many are getting > 5, > 10?
I guess if we haven't heard back from the schools listed in the interviews list by now, we probably are just waiting for the "Hey, you're a great candidate, so don't feel bad - but really, there are so many qualified applicants like yourself." At least I'm not getting and emphatic "Get out and Stay outs" like the guy above mentioned he got from Hopkins.
