SDN is not representative of the application pool. The average of accepted students is still 19-20

I second this. Also sooooo many more people have not even applied yet. Thousands have not. You're in great shape with 23.

Hm does anyone know how AADSAS chooses the order of who gets verified first? It seems like I have submitted earlier than some but still has not gotten verified.

To my knowledge, it is first come first serve.

I would suggest calling AADSAS. I submitted June 24th and have not been verified yet. I called earlier today and they said it was strange that it was taking this long, and that they will email the application verification people to get an update on why the application has not been verified. Hope this helps!

The person I talked to told me it should be finished within a week. But it's weird how others who submitted afterward are getting verified before us haha.

So nearly everyone applying this cycle has a 24, 25, 26, 27 AA and/or TS? That is what it appears based on this thread.

I thought I was in a great place with 23TS/AA, but it appears I may just be middle of the pack at best. I read that ~20 is the average of accepted students, but I am beginning to have my doubts based on this thread and others. Man, this is going to tough.

I have 26AA/27TS and thought about the same thing. The average definitely went up.

People say this every year, but you can’t base the average off of the people here on sdn.

Yeah.. Theres like 50 people who posted here, and over 10,000 who apply. This is a very small pool, and not to mention the majority of people on SDN are among the top percent of over achievers. If you're coming in with a decent GPA and a 20 AA, you're in pretty good shape.

Hi, isn't SIU 100% in state only though? Do you have parents/spouse to claim IL residency?

It looks like they are on the dental school explorer, but they did give out 6 OOS interviews. Plus, Traida's stats are above their 2018 matriculated class's 95th percentiles for DAT and GPA.

I go to SIUE for my undergrad. So I might have a little bit of advantage over the other OOS students. And SIU is definitely not 100% in-state, however, they do give the in-state applicants the most priority.

What are the approximate dates of each batch?

There aren't batches anymore. Last year, the system changed to where schools get application electronically, in real-time. As soon as you submit (or as soon as you are verified, if you haven't submitted to any schools at all), the school gets your application immediately. Batches were when AADSAS actually physically mailed your application out to schools, and they'd do it in batches with specific mailing dates.

My professor teaches at SIU (just a part-time lecturer) and she said they will look at your high school. So they know for sure if you are IS or OOS.

Yes, I will be considered an OOS student. But because of attending SIUE, I might have a little bit of advantage over the other OOS students. I have already talked to SIU about it and they told me I should definitely apply to their school.

Trying to decide if we should keep this type of thread for next cycle, since it doesn't get too much traction. Most of the information here is already listed in the other thread, which is way more popular. I added a poll so people can vote on this, which is at the top of the first page and is linked here: Page 1

Bumping this as we get closer to the start of the cycle, so that more people can vote on whether or not this thread should be created. Poll is on the top of the first page and is linked here: Poll
