Anyone got any good links to prepare for interviews? First ones must be coming up soon for some
 
Just got a rejection from a program saying my credentials didn't meet the credential prescreen. I checked the website, it says the cutoff value is 220. My steps are way higher than that. All in first attempt. What does it mean?

I have never heard of that happening. Which program was it?

Since the email contionusly says 'don't contact the program', it will always remain as a mystery why. I have a friend who is a resident there said there was a high volume of applicants, including many AMGs. Maybe thats why

That's what I assumed. When you've got hundreds of apps to sift through, it's easier to just pick the top X stat-wise and cut your app pool down. It was a bit off-putting the number of times they said "don't contact the program" in that e-mail though, made me feel better about not getting an ii there.

That was quite the blunt letter actually hahaha I’m an AMG with steps above 220 and got a rejection too so riddle me that. I have no ties to the area though so I figure that’s why?

I have no ties to Michigan either. When did you guys get the rejection? I wonder if they're sending them in batches.

Hmm, that's quite interesting. I heard three medical school opened in that area. Would that affect the volume of application?

I agree with stagg737,though;))
 
That rejection letter sounds unnecessarily offensive. Could've just said they had too many applicants this year, which is both true and less injuring to recipients.

More interview update specifics: Northwestern only has waitlists available, USC-Palmetto and ECU seem to have a ton of dates still, and UTSW had only spots left in January.

Also for people not yet having invites (or needing more),there are people who do not intend to hog all the spots for interviews. I'd encourage all of us lucky ones to not be jerks. I'm personally maxing out at 8 or 9 interviews, so I'll be declining/moving around future interviews. I'll still update the list of course to help out and because I like seeing it grow. Good luck everyone.

I think they're approaching it. Most of their waitlists are full. I'm actually waitlisted myself. Though some people come off the waitlist when they get an interview at another place for the same date, so they might still send out interview invites if waitlists open.

Wow, I'm crushed. This was my dream school. Sad to have it taken out of the running so early in the interview season.

Uh, what exactly is this based on? They said they are now only waitlisting people? What wording did they use? Should we expect rejection emails to come out? Seems odd to me and I find it concerning. NW, UofM, and Pitt are at the top of my list but I was assuming while there are no guarantees there is still a lot of time and things in flux.

Yeah, there are always going to be exceptions to the rule, but remember that last year only 13% of IIs were sent before October 1. Even if Northwestern is almost done inviting people, they're still the exception to the rule.

They use the ERAS system where all of their dates are on the database and you sign up for the one that works. All dates through January are waitlist spots and most of the waitlists are full. Could still be hope though. Like I said im on a waitlist myself.

That is disappointing bc I was pretty interested in NU's program. I do find it a bit surprising that they're done/almost done extending invites considering MSPEs just went out 2 days ago.

Exactly, I was excited to get the invite, went to the scheduling thing 5 mins after the notification, and found no spots... Sucks. Though they're the only one like that, for me, so far. So hopefully it's not a trend.

Without speculating on specifics, I don't think it's this simple but hopefully someone directly involved in this process can comment. For several reasons including seeing other schools in this system having all their available dates offered to me completely full I have my doubts. Hopefully someone can clear this up but in the meantime I'm not going to worry.

I'm going to speculate a bit and say they're not done sending out ii's. Chances are some of those interview positions may open up as people decide they no longer want to interview there. Unless they sent out way too many ii's early, I'm guessing they'll probably periodically send out more as slots open up. Like I said though, total speculation, so take that with a grain of salt...

I am sorry of this causes anxiety to anyone, but can I get some outside opinion on releasing a "low" step 2ck score. Step 1 248, Step 2CK 236. Should I wait to release? I feel like I want to just be honest and send it out, but not sure if it will hurt any future II's. Thanks!

Just release it. It's fine for most psych programs.

Consensus seems to be send it. Some programs might not interview an applicant without step 2 as much as a program might not interview a candidate with a decreased step 2.

My only fear is the CK score will be screened out. Do programs normally want a 2CK score before sending an II? I already have a few, but not from my top programs.

If you're a US graduate, that's above and beyond what most psych programs are looking at, on average. If you're a IMG, it's still fine.

My only fear is the CK score will be screened out. Do programs normally want a 2CK score before sending an II? I already have a few, but not from my top programs.

If your concern is top programs, you're more likely to get a bite with your score than no score at all.

Yea I'm a U.S. graduate with an otherwise fairly competitive application I thought (AOA, What I hope are strong letters). My "top programs" would be essentially Northern California. Likely just disappointment clouding my brain. I know I should probably just submit it :/

You are going to be fine. Your Step 2 CK score is fine, not to mention the rest of your application. Chill the f out.
