Oculoplastic Surgery Textbook Recommendation

Good morning to all,

Just a quick question to anyone with experience with oculoplastic surgery, which textbook do you recommend for someone that wants a comprehensive clinical and surgical book? A quick search shows:
1. The Duke Manual of Oculoplastic Surgery
2. Oculoplastic Surgery (Leatherbarrow)
3. Techniques in Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery (Nerad)
4. Eyelid and Periorbital Surgery (Codner)

Anyone has any insight into this topic? Congratulations to all who matched!

I'm not plastics, but I bought the Nerad book during residency and found it to be quite helpful. It reads pretty well, written a bit more casually than other texts, and has nice boxes that summarize the essential steps apart from the longer sections for each procedure. I would definitely recommend it for a resident, but do not have any insight into what's best for a fellow or specialist.

Are you a soon to be fellow? Such textbooks will not generally be helpful past the resident level...

There are individual anatomic or niche texts may be more useful if this is going to be your career.

Nerad seems to be a favorite as it was also recommended by a colleague, so I will check it out to use as a base. I was fortunate enough to match into an ASOPRS fellowship so maybe I need to find another textbook that can cater to my needs down the road. Thank you both for answering. Nah, I'm anterior segment (despite the profile pic). I bought the text to be better prepared for my resident plastics procedures.

I trained with Mark Codner. His 2nd edition of Eyelid and Periorbital Surgery are my Bibles. Volume 1 is aesthetic oculoplastic surgery while Volume 2 is for reconstructive oculoplastic surgery. I continue to refer to them regularly. His textbook on aesthetic Mohs eyelid reconstruction with fellowship alum Sal Pacella is another Bible to which I refer pretty much weekly.

As the post is in 2020, I assume now you have finished your fellowship.

I did finish my fellowship To be quite honest, I bought Nerads book, it was good and I did refer to it occasionally, but I mostly did not use textbooks. The ASOPRS education center was very valuable to me in preparing for my fellowship and once you start you get the hang of it fairly quickly. I wanted to read a whole book or several of them to be prepared but it turns out it was not needed. If I do have to recommend one book, I would recommend Nerad as it was the one I used, but I am unsure if there is one better out there. I hope this is useful to someone.
