First Aid says O blood group people have IgM.

Uworld says they have IgG (usually) QID 8261

Go with uworld I guess? Their reference doesnt mention anything on it

Another discrepancy:

QID 224 IGF 1 acting via JAK-STAT. First aid states insulin receptor kinases work via MAP Kinase. Just noticed it by chance when I was kicking myself for overcomplicating an easy question.

Probably not high yield enough for anyone to care about

Growth hormone goes through Jak/stat (primarily), and IGF-1 goes through receptor tyrosine kinase---> MAP (it is a really strong activator of Akt which is pro mitosis and inhibits apoptosis). http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/8548048/

Basically: GH activates jak/stat signally (specifically in the liver) initiating transcription for IGF-1---> IGF-1 receptor (tyrosine kinase and it actually can activate insulin receptor too if I remember right) which activates the MAP pathway initiating growth.

This is in line with my notes from the uworld questions I've had in it.

ah yep I re-read what uworld was trying to say and it looks like it was actually in line with what you wrote. Thanks again

Looks like its just the O blood group difference that exists
