Greg,

Can you briefly describe NSUCOM's 3rd/4th rotations? I know one is at Broward County (at least I think so

) and I recall reading that this is the 4th largest hospital in the US. Do most students rotate there? Are there other main sites?

Thanks!!!

Hey Frogger. Most of the students at NSU, to my knowledge, do rotate through the Broward County Hospital System. And I do believe that you are correct in your assertion that this is the 4th or 5th largest hospital system in the nation (not necessarily the largest hospital). Another option is Sun Coast Hospital in Largo, Florida (about 40 minutes outside Tampa and 20 minutes outside St. Petersburg). This is a hospital of about 250 beds located within a retirement community. While the thought of a hospital composed predominantly of geriatric patients is alarming to most students, it is ideal for gerontologists like myself who want to practice geriatric medicine. In addition, there are several other locations in Florida and one site in New Jersey where students can go if they are interested, but the majority of students do stay in Broward County (the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area) and there is some control over where you do rotations. They told me, for example, that I could request to do my rotations at Sun Coast, and I may very well do that.

I'm curious, have you been accepted there for the Fall? If so, drop me an e-mail at [email protected] .

Also, here is a listing of some NSUCOM affiliated hospitals and a few have links to the hospital webpages. (I pasted this information from one of my other webpages)
