Dr. Mark Wallace (UCSD Pain) is one of the two PIs accepted to receive funding by the NFL - pretty cool, should be interesting.

Will be interesting to see the results, and I applaud the focus on reducing opioid prescriptions in the population, but I'll never recommend someone smoke/vape a psychoactive plant as medicine.

NFL is always about pushing boundaries and exploring new ways for the league to push forward. Except if you're black and want to coach. Thats a no-go. Whoops.

“While the results of the studies funded under this program may inform alternative pain management strategies, they will have no impact on the jointly administered Policy and Program on Substances of Abuse in place under the current NFL-NFLPA collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Elite professional athletes outside of the NFL will be participating in the studies funded under this award. NFL players are not permitted to participate.”

Punish players for using, but pay for studies on utility. Interesting.

So if the studies are positive, will they allow use or ban it because it purges to be a PED?
