There are no recent threads on this, would be interested in hearing from residents in NYC about which programs allow/have opportunities to moonlight for their residents and fellows.

How about you just train in a much cheaper area? NYC is for masochists, and it's not like they have the best programs.
Haha, NYC has a very high concentration of top programs in a small area. Good for interviewing. Also, some residents have families/SO/kids in schools in NYC and they'd rather stay
Thank you for answering the question
Are you aware of fellows moonlighting in the OR as trainees at these programs?
There was a post from a couple of years back about opportunities at Sinai, but no mention of Cornell or Columbia.
What a useless answer. Why bother? How about you just train in a much cheaper area? NYC is for masochists, and it's not like they have the best programs.
As far as I know, Downstate, Cornell, Columbia, Sinai all have moonlighting. (Opportunity wise I believe it is Sinai > Cornell > Columbia > Downstate, but could be wrong. Things are constantly changing)I dont know much about the other programs. When i interviewed years ago, i didn't remember hearing Maimonaides talk about moonlight. Also not sure about Einstein
I don't think fellows in ACGME accredited fellowships are allowed to moonlight as attendings.

You'd be wrong on that one. For example, at Cedars-Sinai, with all its ACGME accredited fellowships (Cardiac, Pain, OB), you have certain days you are allowed to moonlight as an attending in the main OR, as well as take first call on Saturdays and Sundays. In fact, it is only fellows on the weekends taking first call, for which you get a stipend.

I am not a big believer in moonlighting while training, except for preserving/gaining skills. It dilutes the training experience.
I hope you feel better now. Don't forget the Viagra to show that you are the better man.Oh, cute, got your feelings hurt, big shot gold donor? 4700 messages! Looks like your best friend is the internet?
...isn't Cedars-Sinai in LA? Did you mean Mt. Sinai?
