Can someone please explain MIPS to me? I'm a new grad in an outpatient orthopedics clinic and never had to deal with it during clinical rotations because my outpatient rotations were in small clinics below the threshold (I assume). The way it works in my clinic is a single sheet of paper that we circle answers for basic questions like fall history, BMI, etc. for Medicare evals. I've been trying to Google it and I think I have a vague idea of its purpose, but if someone asked me I couldn't explain it to them. I understand it's some way of measuring the value that Medicare providers give to patients and adjusting reimbursement based on that (I think), but I don't know how that translates to this paper that I fill out during Medicare evals and never see again. I guess all I want to know is how is a patient's BMI and fall history among other things related to value of care?
