Has anyone done this program? I'm curious about what types of opportunities exist and people's first-hand experiences out there.

Here is some information I came upon in an email:

Study human disease using cancer as a model

PhD Program and Summer Undergraduate Research Program [SURP]

The goal of the Gerstner Sloan-Kettering Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences is to train a cadre of outstanding scientists to exploit new advances and developing fields in biomedical sciences and apply their training directly to advancing the understanding of human disease. Because we want our graduate students to understand the clinical relevance of their bench research they are exposed to the clinic with clinic visits from the beginning of the program and throughout their tenure in the graduate program with the selection of a clinical mentor at the end of the second year/beginning of the third year.

The School offers the next generation of scientists a program to study…

cancer genetics
genomic integrity
cell signaling and regulation
structural biology
immunology
chemical biology
developmental biology
computational biology
experimental therapeutics
experimental pathology
imaging and radiation sciences
oncology
genomics
animal models of disease

…through the lens of cancer while giving students the tools they need to put them in the vanguard of research that can be applied in any area of human disease.

Students accepted to SURP are offered an award package which includes
a $3,000 stipend
housing in close proximity to our campus.

You can find additional details about our programs and the online applications on our website (www.sloankettering.edu).

ABRCMS We will be available to provide further information on both the PhD and Summer Undergraduate Research Programs at the 2008 ABRCMS in Orlando from November 5, 2008 to November 9, 2008. You will find us at Booth #635.

Hope this helps some what.

Much appreciated but this describes the summer internship for undergrads. Is there any first-hand experience on the summer program for med students?
