med school at univ of melbourne?

The graduate entry program at melbourne is 4.5 years. I am thinking about applying for entry into semester 2 of next year which starts in june i think. my goal is to come back to the states for residency. With the melbourne program will i eligible for the 2010 match or would i have to wait till the 2011 match due to the extra half year? Thanks for your help.
