During the entire seven year period that his facility was open, Mehta systematically billed the State for clients who were not actually present.

Remarkable.. anyone who can shed light on how that's possible?

How is it possible? I suppose he could have done it by having those people as patients before and then faking the paperwork as if he saw them in the office.

How did they catch him? Maybe someone went to a different state and they had to reapply to medicaid and they found out that he has been billed for all kinda things in his previous state... something similar.

The whole act is dispicable but I am seeing a 7 year thing with a total of 125,000...Meaning about $18k per year. Lets say $50 per patient? That's billing 360 times even though they werent there. Thats pretty much the billing of 10 days... could it be he messed up the billing of two weeks or just added 2 extra weeks? Nah, they would have not found him guilty.... it's hard to mess up 2 weeks for 7 years (or am I deluding myself and the act is possible?)

This particular individual does not even appear to be a physician. He operated an adult daycare center.
