If a patient requests this, can you label 2 separate containers and put half in one and half in another?

Yes. Commonly done for at school administration of ADHD meds.

Put all pills in one vial and give extra empty labeled vial, who has time to split in half?

but this makes it easier to divert/sell, no?

I think a better question would be... Why would you not be able to do this? If you are dispensing the correct medication and the correct quantity I can not imagine someone could fabricate an issue with dispensing in 2 different vials.

For example - some need 1 vial for home and any other vial for school. There is nothing in the world wrong with this.

No... Drug abusers would just distribute it into plastic bags... how would giving an extra vial make it easier to divert? They don’t give 2 sharts the container they use.

You can say ****s.

I prefer sharts - but that’s just me.. If I was in a conversation where I had to choose between saying **** or shart, I would definitely say shart.
